THE SERENE STATE OF NO-MIND
The way of yoga is a spiritual process that enlists the energies available to the physical body to bring realisation of enlightenment. Belief has no place in the study of yoga. It is a science and like all sciences relies on methodology, experimentation, and the application of technique. All Yoga techniques exist to create an atmosphere conducive to meditation.
As a science, yoga has evolved through the experiences of past masters. Techniques have been practiced, mastered and then taught to the next generation. In this way weaknesses in technique have been reduced to develop yoga into an elegant art. Sakshin Ghatastha yoga is concerned with the forging of a strong spirit. The yoga student's primary purpose is to develop consciousness, this leads to the state of witnessing which culminates through deep meditation in a state of pure awareness.
The Sanskrit word Sakshin refers to the witness, a Sakshi is someone who is firmly established in witnessing. Ghatastha is a term that refers to the physical body as a pot. A pot of unbaked clay will dissolve when filled with water unless it has been fired in a kiln. The human body is similarly transformed in the fire of yoga sadhana. When the body has been purified and the level of internal Prana has saturated the entire being, the practitioner of yoga will experience the serene state of no-mind.
