TEACHING STAFF

The teachers at the Yoga Arts Academy have a minimum of three years experience in the theory, practise and teaching of Ghatashta Yoga.

PRAHLAD

Prahlad commenced Yoga training in 1986 under Natanaga Zhander in Melbourne Australia. After four years of progressive training Prahlad joined Zhander in Sydney to begin a three year intensive Yoga Apprenticeship involving up to sixteen hours a day of practice, study and teaching. During this period of traditional training in the way of Hatha Yoga Prahlad received an in depth practical knowledge about how to adapt and develop the yoga process to suit the needs of the individual without compromising the integrity and ultimate purpose of the techniques.

On the completion of his training Prahlad spent a year in India deepening his understanding of yoga and meditation. Through the study of classical hatha yoga texts and inspiration from Osho and Zhander, Prahlad developed the Ghatastha Yoga style for teaching the core understanding of how to manipulate and strengthen the energetic principle, the foundation of all styles of Yoga.

Prahlad has been teaching for over twenty years in Europe, the Middle East, the United States and Australia. In 1994 he founded the Hatha Yoga Institute in Cologne, Germany and in 1998 Prahlad founded the Yoga Arts Academy in Melbourne, Australia.

Prahlad is also a qualified master of Dragon Gate Chi Gong Daoyin Therapy, a healing style of Chi Gong.

DHALI SANDWITH

Dhali’s discovery of yoga started in 1997 for the rehabilitation of a knee reconstruction. A yearning for a deeper understanding of the yogic path lead Dhali to the teachings of Prahlad at the Yoga Arts Academy Melbourne, where he later began his teaching apprenticeship.

After a one year period of dedication to daily practice under Prahlad, Dhali was accepted into the three year full time teaching apprenticeship. During this time Dhali was involved in teaching courses, workshops and weekly classes at the academy. The apprenticeship also involved three years working closely with Prahlad teaching personalized tuition sessions each morning and evening. This extensive experiential training has given Dhali a strong foundation in the practical application of yoga and how this assists the physical, psychological and emotional needs of the individual. Dhali’s intensive training was focused on teaching from experience with emphasis on daily morning and afternoon yoga practice covering in detail the technical aspects of asana, pranayama and meditation.

On completion of his teacher training Dhali established Yoga Shala Cairns a sanctuary for Yoga and Meditation in the tropical rainforest and focused his teachings on the individual needs of his students through personalized yoga tuition.

Dhali has spent 3 years living in Asia sharing the art of Ghatastha Yoga and studying at the Beijing International Art School, where he majored in Northern Chinese Wushu, Hand balancing and FeiCha (Chinese Stick Juggling) . Dhali is also a Shiatsu and Oriental Medicine Therapist graduating with a diploma from the Australian Shiatsu College.
