TEACHING STAFF
The teachers at the Yoga Arts Academy have a minimum of three years experience in the theory, practise and teaching of Sakshin Ghatashta Yoga.
PRAHLAD
Prahlad commenced Yoga training in 1986 under Natanaga Zhander in Melbourne Australia. After four years of progressive training Prahlad joined Zhander in Sydney to begin a three year intensive Yoga Apprenticeship involving up to sixteen hours a day of practice, study and teaching. During this period of traditional training in the way of Hatha Yoga Prahlad received an in depth practical knowledge about how to adapt and develop the yoga process to suit the needs of the individual without compromising the integrity and ultimate purpose of the techniques.
On the completion of his training Prahlad spent a year in India deepening his understanding of yoga and meditation. Through the study of classical hatha yoga texts and inspiration from Osho and Zhander, Prahlad developed the Sakshin Ghatastha Yoga style for teaching the core understanding of how to manipulate and strengthen the energetic principle, the foundation of all styles of Yoga.
Prahlad has been teaching for over twenty years in Europe, the Middle East, the United States and Australia. In 1994 he founded the Hatha Yoga Institute in Cologne, Germany and in 1998 Prahlad founded the Yoga Arts Academy in Melbourne, Australia.
Prahlad is also a qualified master of Dragon Gate Chi Gong Daoyin Therapy, a healing style of Chi Gong.
YATREN
A sincere, playful and non-serious demeanour is Yatren's approach to his own practise and teaching style. 'Sincerity with a touch of playfulness inspires sensitivity to the body and lightness in the mind, enabling it to focus on the here now.'
Yatren completed a 3 year, full time yoga apprenticeship with Prahlad at the Yoga Arts Academy, and graduated as a qualified Sakshin Ghatastha Yoga teacher in August 2003. Yatren has been training at The Yoga Arts Academy since it opened in Melbourne, Australia in 1998. At the academy he teaches early morning personal tuition sessions, and Monday and Wednesday evening open classes. Yatren now also offers Meditation classes and workshops at the academy.
Relaxation and celebration is the emphasis at any of Yatren's retreats and workshops. The beautiful locations indicate the outer beauty towards inner beauty. The yoga-asana stretch away physical blockages and tension. Combine this with several meditation techniques, a refreshed outlook towards physical fitness, spiritual development and a higher understanding of the witness (sakshin) is a certainty. Yatren holds international yoga and meditation retreats and workshops in Australia, Africa and India.
