Ambrosial Yoga is hatha yoga as it was traditionally practiced by women. In ancient times, the female yoga practice was cyclic in nature, reflecting the phases of the moon.

This is in contrast to the masculine practice which is linear in nature and demonstrates the steady and dynamic qualities of the sun. This esoteric teaching is given to us in the Sanskrit word hatha – ha is sun and tha is moon.

Ambrosial Yoga

YOGA FOR WOMEN

At Ambrosial Yoga, after an initial assessment, a series of sequences are created for each woman according to her specific requirements. These sequences are arranged in accordance with each woman’s hormonal cycle. Students are guided through a monthly cycle of practices which can be practiced either at home or during group personal tuition sessions or private one to one sessions.

Ambrosial Yoga is a wholistic approach to traditional hatha yoga, cultivating health and wellbeing for all women.

CATHERINE FISHER

Catherine has been practicing Ghatastha Yoga with Duncan Ewing since 2005. As part of that training Catherine completed a traditional yoga apprenticeship.

The apprenticeship focused on teaching and learning in the traditional one to one setting while adapting the progressive set forms of Ghatastha yoga to treat the individual needs of each student.

During this training Catherine developed a growing awareness that hatha yoga practices need to be specifically tailored to the female monthly cycle.

Ambrosial Yoga was developed by Catherine as a response to the wholistic and cyclic approach female yoga practitioners applied to their daily practice in times past. This traditional wholistic method accommodates the fluctuating emotional, mental and physical changes a woman experiences due to the functioning of the female reproductive system.
